Just a little info about me. I grew up just outside of Atlanta, GA, and was your typical Southern gal. I love me some biscuits for breakfast and some good college football in the fall. I always had my eyes set on BYU and was thrilled to do my undergraduate schooling there. I had a hard time deciding between the arts while there and spent time in the theatre department, the visual art department, and the dance department. In the end, I graduated with a B.A. in Visual Arts. While there I was on the ballroom dance company and spent my spare time traveling around the country competing in ballroom dancing competitions.
When I graduated from BYU, I was married and we were just starting our family. I spent the next 7 years raising my wonderful children. I fed my artistic appetities by working on things that would serve my family. I picked up sewing and would make quilts and clothing with my children. I picked up children's art and spent many hours around the kitchen table painting with my girls. This is what sparked my interest in teaching.
In 2011 I was gifted with an opportunity to work at my children's charter school, Freedom Preparatory Academy, teaching 3rd, 4th, 8th, and 9th grade art. It was a great and challenging experience. I fell in love with it and now I am working on my Master's in Art Education at BYU and teaching all of the secondary students at Freedom Prep.
My side interests include Latin American folk dancing, yelling and running down the sidelines at my kids soccer games, and trying new restaurants. I also love looking at homes for sale. Crazy, but true. My kids are my passion and I love supporting them in all of their extracurricular activities.
